25 more shopping days

I can't believe Christmas is almost upon us. Where did the time go? I haven't even started wrapping or decorating - well I did get out my Christmas table cloth and china and have the table ready. Don't know why as I am not planning on having company. It looks nice anyway!

Tonight I am getting together with my card playing group and we are having our Christmas Get-together. We hve dinner then exchange gifts - put a $10 price limit on it and then we play canasta. We have a great time and tons of fellowship.

A little coffee wisdon

A group of alumni, all highly established in their respective careers, got together for a visit with their old university professor. The conversation soon turned to complaints about the endless stress of work and life in general....

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went into the kitchen and soon returned with a large pot of coffee and an eclectic assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal - some plain, some expensive, some quite exquisite. Quietly he told them to help themselves to some fresh coffee...

When each of his former students had a cup of coffee in hand, the old pro fessor quietly cleared his throat and began to patiently address the small gathering... ''You may have noticed that all of the nicer looking cups were taken up first, leaving behind the plainer and cheaper ones. While it is only natural for you to want only the best for yourselves - that is actually the source of much of your stress-related problems..."

''Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In fact, the cup merely disguises or dresses up what we drink. What each of you really wanted was coffee, not a cup, but you instinctively went for the best cups... Then you began eyeing each other's cups....''

''Now consider this:Life is coffee. Jobs, money, and position in Society are merely cups. They are just tools to shape and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not truly defi ne nor change the quality of the Life we live..."

''Often, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee that God has provided us... God brews the coffee, but he does not supply the cups. Enjoy your coffee!''The happiest people don't HAVE the best of everything; they just MAKE the best of everything they have...

So please remember:
Live Simply
Love Generously
Care Deeply
Speak Kindly........
Leave the Rest to God.

Recovering from Black Friday

I had to work on BF starting at 4:30 a.m. until noon. It was busy - steady but not overwhelming as I thought it would be. Seems the hot spots this year for our area was the new Target and Kohls. This is their first BF in our area.

After work - we headed over to the fair grounds for a craft show - the place was locked up as tight as Fort Knox - had the date wrong. It was for today. :(

Spent some time with DD and grandkids. Had an accident - fell off the steps and hurt my knee. Doing better - just sore!

Gratitude Journal

I thought that today being Thanksgiving, it would be a good day to share some info on making a gratitude journal. There are tons of people, places, things, etc. that we can be thankful for and writing down at least 3 a day has been medically proven to reduce stress.

There are times when they flow out of my head and I can write pages, then there are days when I write I am thankful ............. and that may be the extent of it. I am always thankful for my family, friends, my freedom of worship, education, etc. I borrowed this list from someone else as to things to get me started. Please feel free to share yours.

11 Topices for gratitude journal:

1. Things that make me laugh.
2. Prayers of thanks
3. What I love about myself
4. Opportunities that I am thankful for
5. People who have changed my life (and the changes)
6. Life changing experiences
7. The job I love best
8. Relationships that make a difference.
9. Lifes lessons
10. What makes my house a home
11. My defining moments.

By having these topics near when I have that moment that I don't feel very thankful - it gives me the nudge to remember that no matter what life deals me I should be thankful for every experience and every breath I take. I needed to remember to be thankful on a daily basis and not just once a year on the National holiday.

To me giving thanks should be a natural characteristic as well as a life changing discipline. I think that as a believer of God - I should not leave him out of the things in my life. I have been guilty of leaving him out of my daily walk. Instead of pleading for more faith, I need to exercise the faith that I have. If you think about the many ways that you have faith on a daily basis - you will be surprised. For instance - every time you put the key in the ignition of your car - you have faith that the car will start. Or how about when you have been to the doctor and gotten a prescription - you take it to a pharmacist to fill it with the faith that he can (1) read the scribble on that sheet of paper (I know I sometimes have trouble reading my name - much less what is being prescribed.) and (2) that the correct drugs are dispensed. Or something as simple as flipping a switch to turn on the lights, tv, stove, etc - don't you have the faith that it will work!!!!

More later.......

Welcome to my blog

This blog has been designed to share not only organizing tips and techniques but also to share my love for scrapbooking and rubber stamping.

I start getting organized back in 2001 and a dear friend of mine suggested that I start writing and sharing some of my experiences and ideas. I also started a parttime organizing company called Daysez Organizing with my slogan of "Let me make your days ez by getting organized" and having a daisy as my theme.

Over the next few days I will share some organizing tips as well as some of my scrapbook pages. Gotta get the hang of this blogging stuff.
